North Fork on the Water

Situated on the North Shore of Long Island, this home sweeps across 3 park-like acres overlooking the bay. The front is anchored by two massive fieldstone chimneys, aligned with twin gables, and centered by tiered industrial sash window systems – allowing northern and western light to flood the interior spaces. The back exterior is south facing and features a similar compositional set, except the gables migrate out to the east and west. It features a deep covered porch spanning the length of the house, bookended by screened living spaces. Looking up from the private beach and pool, the suite of first floor rooms is visually inked together through large format industrial sliders – championing the spectacular view from all vantage points.

The roof terrace mimics the expanse of the first floor’s, with added privacy screening courtesy of the planter boxes and continuous eave sweep that tie into the main body of the house. The second-floor family room takes center stage, again with large format industrial sash sliders opening to terrace and view. The house draws from the storied shingle style houses of Long Island’s East End, while the visually open plan and industrial steel sash bring the interior a contemporary urban aesthetic.
