Tidal River View

The property set along Darien’s Five Mile River had lovely water views but the buildable portion was across the road.  Our clients were concerned that traffic would be their main view.  By building up the site and planting privet to mask the road, this new 6480 square-foot house now has unobscured views of the water.

Appropriate for the surrounding Connecticut coast, the house’s shingle style design presents a fairly articulated trim system that holds high design interest and is at the same time informal.  A series of French doors open on to the front and back porches creating an open relaxed air even when closed, as if at any moment one can and should access these outdoor seating areas and just enjoy the setting.  Careful consideration was given in both the architecture and interior design to insure the home retains a comfortable, relaxing, approachable environment for welcoming extended friends and family.
