1920’s English Arts and Crafts Revived

Sited at the mouth of the Mianus River, this stately 1914 English Arts and Crafts style house was in need of repair and light to connect it to the welcoming landscape.  A texturing of materials on the outside: fieldstone, brick, slate, clapboard, half-timbers, and stucco eased the placement of new French doors, windows and dormers.  A new entrance in front of the house of curving wire-glass and wrought-iron canopy is thoroughly Arts & Crafts.  A new light-filled wing houses the family room, kitchen, garages and wine cellar, maintaining and enhancing the elegance of the original house now 8,500 square feet.
