18th Century Farmhouse

The land was overgrown, various outbuildings were dilapidated and the main house needed renovation, but the property as a whole had features so finely rooted in history that our clients eagerly took on the project. Poor additions were removed and new restrained wings of stone and clapboard added, allowing the essence of the original 18th century structure to shine through. Additions are set behind the main house, which faces the street undisturbed. The barn was restored, outbuildings renovated to accommodate guests, and the apple orchard brought back to life. Crafted interiors mirror original spaces, the chestnut floors pillowed to appear aged. Expanded to their present size, the 8,367 square-foot main house and 1,472 square-foot cottage are ready for 21st century life.
