Lakefront Contemporary

With broad, open lakefront views, this contemporary residence, circa 1980, offered expanses of glass and versatile exposed beams but lacked the space and structure our clients sought for their family and expanding collection of Eurasian art. By adding two wings, the 10,131 square-foot building is now structurally balanced; modernist materials — stone floors and terraces, steel staircases, and a stone exterior on the first floor — complement the art collection. An inner courtyard with a reflecting pool was designed to house a gallery of Persian art. The pristine architecture enhances the art collection and its bold palette, creating the pleasing effect of a polished whole.
